Zerodette? What's that mean?

Back when I was 10 or 11, I used the name Odette in my middle school French classes because I thought it was funny. I actually knew nothing of Swan Lake at that point. When I started posting on internet messageboards (around age 14), specifically one devoted to the show "Friends," I made Odette my username. I'd been posting for about a year when there was some sort of crash. We could neither use nor re-register our old usernames, so I switched my letter O to the number 0, becoming 0dette. I first used the word "zerodette" in an AIM conversation with

beinginitself (I'm sure she doesn't remember). So, the name dates back to before my junior year of high school, and actually has nothing to do with my current financial status. I wish I were that clever. And that I actually had no debt.

My Diamond Shoes? What's that mean?

Most of my posts involve my complaining about some aspect of school, either undergraduate or now medical school. However, I realize that I'm very fortunate to have gotten the educational opportunities I've had. In other words, I spend a lot of time whining about what's actually a pretty awesome situation. As a nod to that fact, the title of this journal is a quote from "Friends:" "This must be so hard. 'Oh, no! Two women love me. They're both gorgeous and sexy. My wallet's too small for my fifties, and my diamond shoes are too tight!'" Oh, the wisdom of Chandler Bing.

Six random facts about me:

1. I hate apple juice. I feel very strongly about this, but not many people know because it doesn't often come up!

2. My favorite authors are Salman Rushdie and John Updike.

3. When taking a written exam, I always flip the exam over and start from the back.

4. When I'm pumping gas, I stop on the dollar. Every time. That took lots of practice.

5. I refuse to listen to music by artists who died in plane crashes while I am on a plane. One time, a stewardess sang "Crazy" by Patsy Cline over the plane intercom and I almost filed a complaint with the airline.

6. I am not a morning person. It doesn't matter if wake-up time is 4am or 9am, I'm always mad at my alarm clock.
